Throughout all of the courses there are regular assessments of the students knowledge and ability by means of both practical and written examinations as well as competancy based level assessments.

This enables the teaching staff to accurately assess the progress of each student and to offer extra assistance in specific areas should it be necessary. On completion of the learning outcomes students are required to sit for final examinations, both theory and practical.

Certificates or Statements of Attainment will be issued to students on the successful completion of modules that are deemed competent.

Specailised Short Courses

At the Illawarra College of Professional Beauty Therapy we also offer a range of short courses that specialise in individual aspects of the Beauty Industry. These courses cater for those people wishing to specialise in one or more areas of the beauty industry or to upgrade their existing skills in a particular field or to expand their existing skill set into another field of specialisation.

On completion of each course students are required to sit for both practical and written examinations. All students will be awarded Statements of Attainment for all units in which they are deemed competent. A minimum deposit of 30% of the total course fee is required to secure a place in the chosen course, which is payable at the time of enrolment. The remainder of the course fees may be paid off over the duration of your course, either fortnightly or monthly in the case of the Certificate level courses or weekly in the case of all other short courses.

Refund Policy

Please note the following conditions apply:

If a course is cancelled, or in extenuating personal circumstances such as illness or bereavement, students may be granted credit for their fees or may transfer from one course to another course, subject to availability of space in the alternative course.

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)

Competency-based training courses are made up of modules. If a student can show that they have already gained these skills in a previous course, employment or life experience, they may apply for recognition of this prior learning. An assessment will be given to decide if the student is eligible for RPL and if so the student will be exempt from the relevant modules.

Claim for RPL

If the claim for RPL is supported by recognised original accredited documentation, the college is bound to recognise and accept the claim as presented. In some instances, the College may request that the student undertake an assessment of skills to confirm the level of attainment In all claims for practical procedures, a fee may apply for the time of the assessment.
