We are one of the longest running private training colleges in the Illawarra region and we have an excellent reputation for providing quality training.
All of our trainers have many years of experience within the beauty industry and most own their own salons. Our facilities are modern and up to date as we also operate a fully functioning commercial beauty salon that utilizes the latest equipment available.
All courses are available with different payment options, details of which can be obtained from the College. Should you have any further questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Chance Spa & Skin Clinic Now Open
The Illawarra College of Professional Beauty has recently opened a fully operational spa and skin clinic within the college. This exciting addition will offer students valuable pratical experience in a running spa and skin clinic.
The spa offers the general public services such as Ultra Sound for cellulite removal, Micro Dermabrasion to gain youthful looking skin and Radio Frequency for skin tightening. All these services are a great way to get ready for the warmer months and long days at the beach.
All New for 2011
The Illawarra College of Professional Beauty Therapy is undergoing some significant changes and these changes will not only benefit the students but will also benefit the environment.
In an effort to become more environmentally sustainable, the college is about to launch a new training package, which will significantly reduce the amount of paper that is used.
“We currently use thousands of reams of paper during a training course,” College principal Tracey Rovere said. “But we are looking to cut that down and become more sustainable.”
The new training package will encourage students to bring in their laptop computers, use text books rather than print outs, CDs and involve online interactive activities.
“We won’t be entirely paperless but it will definitely promote a more environmentally friendly approach,” Tracey said.
“Students will now be able to bring their laptop to the theory classes and they will be able to do exams online as well as online activities which can be done at home and then emailed back to the office. It will make everyone’s life so much easier.
“The practical classes wont change, but it is quite a huge change in the theory classes and we are all putting in a lot of effort to make this change work.”
With over 30 years experience, The Illawarra College of Professional Beauty Therapy, has successfully stood the test of time to become the largest beauty training facilitator in the Illawarra.
The College, which is VETAB (Vocational Education & Training Accreditation Board) registered and both Austudy and Centrelink approved, offers a wide range of courses, from statement of attainment and short courses through to Diploma of Beauty Therapy.
In order to keep up with changes in the industry, the College’s new training package will not only be more environmentally conscious they will also include training in day spa type treatments with subjects such as Indian head massage and hot stone therapy.
“We want to focus on what the industry out there needs and we want students to graduate and be trained in areas that are popular and meet client needs,” Tracey said.
“At the moment the day spa side of the industry is really big and it is an area where students are able to find work once they finish their course.”
The new training packages – SIB 50110 – Diploma and SIB 40110 – Certificate short course, will be available in July*. (*The College has applied to ASQA to have these courses added to their scope of registration and is hoping they will be approved and added before courses commence).
“We are excited about the new training packages, it has given us something different to focus on and will take our students to the next level,” Tracey said.
The Illawarra College of Professional Beauty Therapy is conveniently located in the centre of Wollongong at 3 Crown Lane. For more information on the new training package or other subjects offered call 4228 1772.
